When we buy something we usually look at the information on the packaging.
If it is food, we read the nutritional values on the label. We check for fat content, preservatives and so on.
If the item is clothing, we look to see what it is made of. E.g. cotton, wool, man-made fabric etc. considering
whether it is good for our health or not.
If, on the other hand, we are buying electrical items, we look for the origin, performance, power efficiency (A, A+, A++) and guarantees.
In the case of TV's and PC's we carefully consider possible harmful emissions.
And what's the matter if we have to buy a toy for our children? We carefully check for the origin,
composition and for certifications (such as CE, Angelo Azzurro, etc…) to be sure it is toxic substances free.
When we choose a product instead of another, we almost always aim to improve our well being; it would be unthinkable to spend money
to buy a commonly used item turning to be harmful for our health and environment so as to worsen the quality of our life.
If we stop a moment and think, even a water-based paint on the wall can contribute to infuse well being around us; indeed, once used to
protect and/or decorate our home, office, school or working environment, the water-based paint becomes part of them, like a TV,
the curtains or any other furniture or appliance meant to live with us for a long time.
Yet, sometimes, when we buy such products, it can be difficult to interpret the following information and choose among: super-washable,
ultra-covering, semi-washable, transpiring, titanium-made, thixotropic, ultra-white, green, anti-mould, water-based paints and such.
Even the very expert in this field could have problems to sort out of it.
Indeed, each product tells everything about itself, which entails a lot of chaos as for names and information.
It is also necessary to underline that the very frequent use of the phrase "water-based paint" is not an absolute guarantee of
lack of harmful substances for our health and environment. A water-based paint, even if watered down, may actually have imperceptible
chemical substances, such as formaldehyde, organic, aromatic solvents and allergen products, which can be released during the application
and, for a long time, also after drying.

If for food, clothes, furniture, electrical items and toys we find information on the label concerning their content and performance,
we should have the same for a water-based paint. Indeed, a detailed label allows the consumer to compare a product with another in a
suitable way, according to objective data.
